…then you would discover that it isn’t watercolor at all, but is painted with strong black coffee. Yum! I love the rich, warm tones it creates on the journal page. Blends from different regions of the world make different shades of brown: a shade-grown Costa Rican brew is rusty red, while organic Hawaiian is a shiny sepia. And when the painting session is over, the coffee grounds go into the compost pile.

That’s a new one for me. I have never heard of anyone painting with coffee. I love the shading and the tones of the watercolor and would love to see more of these with the different coffee blends. Thank you for sharing the painting and the information.

This is new to me also, I have never heard of painting with coffee. This is a really beautiful and interesting painting, love the warm color tones. Very nice work.

OMG, I love coffee and never thought to use it as paint…tea has been used as dye, why not coffee paint? Ooooh, I so love this work and thanks for stopping by my humble space. Your work is beautiful!!!
