Using Watercolor Pencil (squeak!)

Especially if you are used to the flowing intensity of watercolor paints or the precise control of a traditional colored pencil, this hybrid art medium can be tricky at first.  The very characteristic that makes it so convenient to carry along — a pencil core that instantly melts when exposed to water — also makes it pale and prone to wash away in the middle of your sketching session.

But never fear! There are ways to ensure a soft and lovely watercolor pencil drawing… and this pencil’s softness makes it a natural for drawing small furry creatures, such as mice.
